Reveal or Reflect?

Who shows or reveals God to you?

"My Father has entrusted everything to me. No one truly knows the Son except the Father, and no one truly knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him." Matthew 11:27

"Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them." John 14:21

This is all about knowing God, but Jesus said that no one knows the Heavenly Father God except Him. And likewise, only Father God knows God the Son. But He continues in both scripture passages to tell us that He will reveal Himself to those He loves…and who love Him and keep His commandments. That is good news. Once again, love is the key. The Heavenly Father will love those who love Jesus…and Jesus will love them.

Reveal...not just reflect God's love.

Reveal or to make known; to disclose something unknown. It was significant. Who is going to reveal God to you except God’s word itself…or someone who is teaching or preaching from God’s word? By praying for insight, God Himself as the Holy Spirit will give you understanding of scripture, opening your hearts and mind so that you can discern the truth of God’s Word. Prayer is essential. Prayer is simply talking to God—just like you would talk with a friend. But would you “talk” to someone you didn’t know? A stranger. It is not likely that you would reveal to a stranger your true feelings or talk about what is really going on in your life. But with a close friend you could really bare your heart, show your feelings. Consider knowing God like a dear friend. Get to know Him, trust Him and love Him with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. Loving God will motivate you to keep His commandments  and then, hopefully, He will reveal Himself to you, just like you will reveal yourself to Him. Amazing thing is…He knows us so well already. He knows our thoughts even before we speak them…but we still need to pray and talk to Him.

Prayer ~ Lord God, I love You with my whole heart, soul, mind and strength. Please give me insight to understand Your Word, to totally know You and to apply Your word to my life.

Verse for Salvation ~ But I keep praying to you, LORD, hoping this time you will show me favor. In your unfailing love, O God, answer my prayer with your sure salvation. Psalm 69:13
