Elohim = God – The True God

Meditate on God, His creation, and His existence.

After saying all these things, Jesus looked up to heaven and said, "Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son so he can give glory back to you. For you have given him authority over everyone. He gives eternal life to each one you have given him. And this is the way to have eternal life—to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth. I brought glory to you here on earth by completing the work you gave me to do. Now, Father, bring me into the glory we shared before the world began. John 17:1-5

El indicates the strong one and can be associated with false gods. The name Elohim means strength or power. It is associated with our sovereign God. The true God. Our all-powerful God is glorified by His one and only Son. Jesus acknowledged that in order to have eternal life a person has to know God the Father and Jesus. Our God is the true God.

But the LORD is the only true God. He is the living God and the everlasting King! The whole earth trembles at his anger. The nations cannot stand up to his wrath. Jeremiah 10:10

John in his epistle points us to the true God.

And we know that the Son of God has come, and he has given us understanding so that we can know the true God. And now we live in fellowship with the true God because we live in fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ. He is the only true God, and he is eternal life. 1 John 5:20

As you build your relationship with God, consider His power and strength. Consider His love. He has authority over everyone.

Prayer ~ Glory, Glory, Glory. Lord God Almighty. You alone are the True God…Elohim. I worship You.

Verse of Salvation ~ After this, I heard what sounded like a vast crowd in heaven shouting, "Praise the LORD! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God." Revelation 19:1

Friday’s Feast at the King’s Table
My sweet husband loves sweet shortbread cookies. I’ve found a recipe that satisfies both his sweet tooth and mine.

Mexican Shortbread Cookies

Boil 1 cup water and 1 whole stick cinnamon. Let tea cool.
Mix:
8 oz. shortening (or half butter and half coconut oil)
¾ c sugar
2 tsp vanilla
Add:
1 tsp salt
 tsp ground cinnamon
3 c flour (i used 1 cup each potato, coconut & rice flours)
Stir well and then alternately add with the tea ½ cup at a time (I used 3/4 cup tea), until dough makes a ball. Roll out to 1/3 inch thickness. Cut in shape of your choice or traditional heart shape. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Cool. Dip in mixture of ½ c. sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon.

Enjoy with a tall glass of milk or hot cup of coffee, how about a cup of cocoa with ¼ tsp cinnamon and a sprinkle of cayenne pepper?
