God is Just - January 11, 2021

Consider your actions and attitudes in life. What do you deserve? Meditate on God’s justice.

We thank you, O God! We give thanks because you are near. People everywhere tell of your wonderful deeds. God says, "At the time I have planned, I will bring justice against the wicked. When the earth quakes and its people live in turmoil, I am the one who keeps its foundations firm. I warned the proud, 'Stop your boasting!' I told the wicked, 'Don't raise your fists! Don't raise your fists in defiance at the heavens or speak with such arrogance.'" For no one on earth—from east or west, or even from the wilderness—should raise a defiant fist. It is God alone who judges; he decides who will rise and who will fall. Psalm 75:1-7

God is just. He decides what happens. He decides who will rise and who will fall.

God didn’t send His Son to judge the world. This is explained to us with the verse that everyone knows so well about God loving the world.

For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him. There is no judgment against anyone who believes in him. But anyone who does not believe in him has already been judged for not believing in God's one and only Son. And the judgment is based on this fact: God's light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil. John 3:16-19

Jesus Himself said that He wouldn’t judge the world…He was here to save us.

Jesus is a light to shine in the darkness.
He is the light of the world.

Haystack Rock, Cannon Beach , Oregon.

Jesus shouted to the crowds, "If you trust me, you are trusting not only me, but also God who sent me. For when you see me, you are seeing the one who sent me. I have come as a light to shine in this dark world, so that all who put their trust in me will no longer remain in the dark. I will not judge those who hear me but don't obey me, for I have come to save the world and not to judge it. But all who reject me and my message will be judged on the day of judgment by the truth I have spoken. John 12:44-48

We will be judged at some point in time…but we can trust that God will judge fairly. Actually, those who believe in Jesus as their Savior have already been judged…and found forgiven, pure and acceptable. Jesus paid our debt, wiped away our sin and guilt. We are free.

Tell all the nations, "The LORD reigns!" The world stands firm and cannot be shaken. He will judge all peoples fairly. Psalm 96:10

Where do you stand in judgment with God? Will He see you washed in the blood of Jesus—pure and forgiven? Or will He see your sin and cast you into the eternal torment of Hell? The choice is yours. Choose wisely while there is still time.

Prayer ~ Lord Jesus, Thank You for taking my sin to the cross—for forgiving me. I am undeserving…but tremendously grateful. For my sin, I deserve Hell, but You’ve forgiven and saved me. May those around me…and reading this blog…see You for who You are, Jesus. Lord, Savior, Creator, Redeemer, Friend…and may they seek forgiveness and build a relationship with You. You are the Way, the Truth and the Life.

Verse of Salvation ~ God alone, who gave the law, is the Judge. He alone has the power to save or to destroy. So what right do you have to judge your neighbor? James 4:12
