God is Merciful

Meditate. Mercy. What does it mean for you?

But from there you will search again for the LORD your God. And if you search for him with all your heart and soul, you will find him. In the distant future, when you are suffering all these things, you will finally return to the LORD your God and listen to what he tells you. For the LORD your God is a merciful God; he will not abandon you or destroy you or forget the solemn covenant he made with your ancestors. Deuteronomy 4:29-31

From there…scattered among the nations. The Jews have been scattered, exiled and driven out of their Promised Land, but the Lord God has brought them back into the land again…and again. Now they are in the Holy Land once again—blessed to be a blessed nation. Their land truly is flowing with milk and honey…as well as pomegranates, dates, wheat and various other crops. God has not forgotten them…nor has He abandoned, forsaken or allowed them to be destroyed, even when they were rebellious and disobedient towards Him.

For the LORD your God is a merciful God; he will not abandon you or destroy you or forget the solemn covenant he made with your ancestors. Deuteronomy 4:31

God is merciful. We are shown this over and over in the Bible.

But in your great mercy, you did not destroy them completely or abandon them forever. What a gracious and merciful God you are! Nehemiah 9:31

How kind the LORD is! How good he is! So merciful, this God of ours! Psalm 116:5

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. 2 Corinthians 1:3

How do you see God’s mercy in your life? Does knowing about His mercy bring you closer to Him?

Prayer ~ Dear God, May grace, mercy, and peace, which come from You, God the Father and from Jesus Christ—the  Son of the Father, continue to be with us who seek to live in truth and love. From 2 John 1:3. Thank You, God, for lavishing Your mercy on us…as undeserving as we are.

Verse of Salvation ~ All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see. 1 Peter 1:3-5 (Underlined for emphasis.)
