God is Self-Sufficient

Meditate. Consider how God is self-sufficient and what that means in your relationship with Him.

He is the God who made the world and everything in it. Since he is Lord of heaven and earth, he doesn't live in man-made temples, and human hands can't serve his needs—for he has no needs. He himself gives life and breath to everything, and he satisfies every need. From one man he created all the nations throughout the whole earth. He decided beforehand when they should rise and fall, and he determined their boundaries. His purpose was for the nations to seek after God and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him—though he is not far from any one of us. For in him we live and move and exist. As some of your own poets have said, 'We are his offspring.' And since this is true, we shouldn't think of God as an idol designed by craftsmen from gold or silver or stone. Acts 17:24-29

God is self-sufficient. He doesn’t need anything. He supplies all our needs…but He doesn’t have any necessities. Oh sure…He has desires. He wants people—Jews and Gentiles—to seek righteousness and His kingdom. He wants to supply our needs. He is a gracious and loving God.

Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires. James 1:20

Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. Matthew 6:33 NLT

In his first epistle John concludes with a short discussion on fellowship with God. That “fellowship” is the relationship that God wants with us.

And we know that the Son of God has come, and he has given us understanding so that we can know the true God. And now we live in fellowship with the true God because we live in fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ. He is the only true God, and he is eternal life. 1 John 5:20

John continues writing about our relationship with God and with Jesus Christ in his second epistle, warning of the importance in following Jesus’ teachings…most importantly to love one another.

The Ten Commandments
Love God...Love One Another

I am writing to remind you, dear friends, that we should love one another. This is not a new commandment, but one we have had from the beginning. Love means doing what God has commanded us, and he has commanded us to love one another, just as you heard from the beginning. I say this because many deceivers have gone out into the world. They deny that Jesus Christ came in a real body. Such a person is a deceiver and an antichrist. Watch out that you do not lose what we have worked so hard to achieve. Be diligent so that you receive your full reward. Anyone who wanders away from this teaching has no relationship with God. But anyone who remains in the teaching of Christ has a relationship with both the Father and the Son.
2 John 1:5-9

God is self-sufficient, but He needs us to love one another…and to love and honor Him. Are you doing that as you grow in your knowledge of God and build your relationship with Him?

Prayer ~ Dear God, Thank You that You have promised to keep us strong to the end so that we will be free from all blame on the day when our Lord Jesus Christ returns. God, You will do this, for You are faithful to do what You say, and You have invited us into partnership with Your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. From 1 Corinthians 1:8-9

Verse of Salvation ~ The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God. 1 Corinthians 1:18

Happy Birthday, Mike!

May God continue to bless and guide you…

…as our son, as a husband, a father, and as His son and worker for Him.

Love & Prayers…today and always.
