Telling the Truth – No Death

Jesus went on to say, "I tell you the truth, some standing here right now will not die before they see the Kingdom of God arrive in great power!" Mark 9:1

And I tell you the truth, some standing here right now will not die before they see the Son of Man coming in his Kingdom. Matthew 16:28

I tell you the truth, some standing here right now will not die before they see the Kingdom of God." Luke 9:27

Meditate on these verses and truth.

Jesus will return in the clouds.
Where will you be?

That is exciting…not dying until they see Jesus. These verses from three different Gospels are virtually the same. Jesus was telling the truth. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. We assume that everyone will die someday. Everyone sins…everyone is going to die.

And just as each person is destined to die once and after that comes judgment, so also Christ died once for all time as a sacrifice to take away the sins of many people. He will come again, not to deal with our sins, but to bring salvation to all who are eagerly waiting for him. Hebrews 9:27-28

We are destined to die. We are told that right here in Hebrews…and of course, we all know that from experience. We are all destined to be born…and to die.

A time to be born and a time to die. …. Ecclesiastes 3:2

Good people pass away; the godly often die before their time. But no one seems to care or wonder why. No one seems to understand that God is protecting them from the evil to come. For those who follow godly paths will rest in peace when they die. Isaiah 57:1-2

Good people pass away. It is hard to understand why good people pass away…at a young age. They have so much potential…so much to give in service to the Lord. Why? Isaiah tells us that it is to protect us from coming evil. Once we lost a very dear friend—to cancer. It was less than a month since her diagnosis. It just seems unfair…but we just have to trust God. He has a plan. She was a godly lady…so we have the promise that she is resting in peace. Salvation—for each of us—is from the Lord. We are eagerly awaiting His return. Will some here now be alive when Jesus returns?

What do we learn about Jesus’ promises from our original Scripture today?

Prayer ~ Lord, open our eyes and hearts to understand Your plan as we wait for Your return. May all that we do please and honor You. Thank You for our wonderful friend. Please give her family and friends Your peace, strength and hope.

Verses of Salvation ~ For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps. He never sinned, nor ever deceived anyone. He did not retaliate when he was insulted, nor threaten revenge when he suffered. He left his case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly. He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed. 1 Peter 2:21-24

Jesus’ death on the cross provided salvation for us. Will you accept what He has done for you?
