Some of the people who lived in Jerusalem started to ask each other, "Isn't this the man they are trying to kill? But here he is, speaking in public, and they say nothing to him. Could our leaders possibly believe that he is the Messiah? But how could he be? For we know where this man comes from. When the Messiah comes, he will simply appear; no one will know where he comes from." John 7:25-27
Meditate.
Consider knowing Scripture predictions.
Where
did Jesus come from? Even the Wise Men were expecting the new King of Israel to
be born in Bethlehem as they learned from their visit to Herod’s palace. Jesus
was born in Bethlehem—but that wasn’t common knowledge, and it wasn’t His
hometown. Who’d expect the Messiah to come from Nazareth or even Capernaum?
But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, are
only a small village among all the people of Judah. Yet a ruler of Israel,
whose origins are in the distant past, will come from you on my behalf. Micah 5:2
It doesn’t
matter to us where Jesus came from…we know the rest of the story. We know the
truth. Jesus came from our Heavenly Father to earth…to Bethlehem…to Nazareth…to
Galilee…to Jerusalem and the cross…and then back to Heaven. There will come a
day when He returns to earth. Life of Christ on the cross...
from Medjugorje.
People
at the Feast of Tabernacles were asking about Him. Are people today questioning
who Jesus is…and where He comes from? Are you questioning who Jesus is and where
He comes from?
Do
you learn anything about Jesus from this Scripture passage today?
Prayer
– Lord Jesus—You aren’t mysterious. I trust that You are who You are—and where
You came from. Please give those reading this new insight into Your life and
purpose. I am so looking forward to Your return…someday!
Verse
of Salvation ~ "Are you the Messiah we've been expecting, or should we
keep looking for someone else?" Jesus told them, "Go back to John and
tell him what you have heard and seen-- the blind see, the lame walk, those
with leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised to life, and the
Good News is being preached to the poor." And he added, "God blesses
those who do not fall away because of me." Matthew 11:3-6
