Meditate and consider God’s infinite wisdom and knowledge.
Oh, how great are God's riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his ways! For who can know the LORD's thoughts? Who knows enough to give him advice? And who has given him so much that he needs to pay it back? For everything comes from him and exists by his power and is intended for his glory. All glory to him forever! Amen. Romans 11:33-36
Can you understand God’s ways? Paul was
telling the people of the church at Rome that it is impossible to understand
God’s ways. Impossible. Impossible? Remember other verses that tell us that
nothing is impossible with God? Even when Jesus was speaking to His disciples
about salvation He said that nothing is impossible with God. Humanly speaking.
Then Jesus said to his disciples, "I
tell you the truth, it is very hard for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of
Heaven. I'll say it again—it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a
needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God!" The disciples
were astounded. "Then who in the world can be saved?" they asked.
Jesus looked at them intently and said, "Humanly speaking, it is
impossible. But with God everything is possible." Matthew 19:23-26
Since everything is possible with God…if He wants you to understand…if you ask Him to help you understand…then you can have the wisdom and knowledge to comprehend God’s ways. That could be a wonderful situation. To understand God would be a great blessing—but also a huge responsibility. To know God is our goal. In knowing God more deeply, we can love Him more truly. That would give God such a great joy…and each of us, too. Joy overflowing from God’s mercy. Love overflowing from God’s grace—His unmerited favor towards us. So ask and you will receive—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. As Paul wrote…we can’t give God advice, but we can ask Him for wisdom and understanding.
If you need wisdom, ask our generous God,
and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. James 1:5
Just as Jesus taught during His Sermon on
the Mount…
Keep on asking, and you will receive what
you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door
will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks,
finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. Matthew 7:7-8
Keep on asking and seeking. You will not only find God and be granted the wisdom and understanding for which you have asked, but you will give and receive love. Love is the greatest thing.
Prayer ~ Lord God, please give me wisdom and understanding that I may know You more completely. Nothing is impossible with You for You alone are worthy of glory, honor and praise. Glory to You forever.
Verse of Salvation ~ Wisdom and money can get you almost anything, but only wisdom can save your life. Ecclesiastes 7:12
