God is Sovereign

Meditate…think on God’s qualities. Are you seeking to know God more today than yesterday?

Yours, O LORD, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. Everything in the heavens and on earth is yours, O LORD, and this is your kingdom. We adore you as the one who is over all things. Wealth and honor come from you alone, for you rule over everything. Power and might are in your hand, and at your discretion people are made great and given strength. "O our God, we thank you and praise your glorious name!" 1 Chronicles 29:11-13

How many times as a child did you pray or have you heard children pray…“God is Good, God is Great?” He is the greatest—above all. He is supreme, excellent, autonomous, and the dominant power in all of creation. He is above all. As Ezra wrote for us in 1 Chronicles…wealth and honor come from you alone, for you rule over everything. Power and might are in your hand, and at your discretion people are made great and given strength. God Himself is so powerful that He decides about who gets wealth, honor, and power at His discretion. And we people just think that we’ve done it ourselves. Our 401-Ks or Individual Retirement Accounts (IRA) are really bonuses from God…not of our own…although we think we’ve been so smart in saving for our future.

My victory and honor come from God alone. He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me. Psalm 62:7

Everything belongs to God—and comes from Him. Just as David wrote in the Psalm above, God is my refuge and rock. A strong place in my life. I am in awe of our God—powerful and above all. One day we will see Him in all His glory and majesty. For now we just have to have faith…as we believe in someone we can’t see. God.

Prayer ~ Lord God—You are above all. You are awesome. I humbly bow before You and confess that I am but a fleck of dust. All power, majesty, glory and honor belong to You.

Verse of Salvation ~ I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken. Psalm 62:1-2
