Meditate.
Don't let the excitement of youth cause you to forget
your Creator. Honor him in your youth before you grow old and say, "Life
is not pleasant anymore." Remember him before your legs—the guards of your
house—start to tremble; and before your shoulders—the strong men—stoop.
Remember him before your teeth—your few remaining servants—stop grinding; and
before your eyes—the women looking through the windows—see dimly. Ecclesiastes
12:1-3
Are your legs trembling or your shoulders stooping? Do you
grind your teeth? Do you see clearly? Are these signs of growing old…or just
lazy? If you don’t use your muscles, you lose the use of them. Before Covid
when I walked and hiked regularly with friends, we used to remind
ourselves—Keep moving to keep moving! We knew that we had to move our
muscles—and walk or hike almost daily. It was not only good exercise—it was a
good time of fellowship. I’ve become more stooped shouldered than I would
like—and often catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror and throw my shoulders
back. I don’t want to be a hunched over old lady. As a person hunches over they
lose lung capacity—and that is very important to health. Gotta have good oxygen
exchange to get oxygen and energy out to all the muscles and tissues of the
body. As a person stoops over you can assume that there is the possibility of
excess pressure on internal, especially abdominal organs, that might not be
healthy. God designed us to be upright—and as our Creator, He had a perfect
design in human beings. Live upright in body, mind and spirit to faithfully honor
Him.
Did you choose a “word” to focus your life on during this
new year—a theme for the year? It is a custom that I’ve read many people are
doing these days. I think it is a worthy habit to get into. My word for the
year is “faithful” because I see that being such an important word in honoring
God. Think about it. God is “faithful” to us…so I want to be “faithful” to Him,
to my family and to my friends as well. Faithful prayer. Faithful service.
Faithful giving thanks each day. Faithful about honoring God in all that I
think, say and do. Yes. Faithful. Consider what your word of the year is
and apply it to your life…daily. Remember God again today…throughout your day.
Lord, You are the LIght of the World.
Light my path.
Prayer ~ Lord God, I want to be faithful to You and to
Your word. Help me to see what You want me to do day by day, hour by hour,
moment by moment to faithfully honor You as You light my path.
Verse of Salvation ~ (As spoken in Antioch by Paul and
Barnabus on Paul’s first missionary journey.) For the Lord gave us this command
when he said, 'I have made you a light to the Gentiles, to bring salvation to
the farthest corners of the earth.' Acts 13:47
Memory Verse of the Week: Thy word is a lamp unto my
feet, and a light unto my path. Psalm 119:105 KJV
Test yourself or recite this verse to someone. Did you
memorize it? What does it mean to you?
