Before Your Eyes Get Dim

Meditate.

Don't let the excitement of youth cause you to forget your Creator. Honor him in your youth before you grow old and say, "Life is not pleasant anymore." Remember him before the light of the sun, moon, and stars is dim to your old eyes, and rain clouds continually darken your sky. Ecclesiastes 12:1-2

Are your eyes getting dim? Are catarrhs clouding your vision? Is everyday gloomy, gray and cloudy? Those who are affected by Seasonal Affective Disorder – SAD are those for whom the lack of sunlight and the resulting decrease in one’s body’s ability to produce serotonin and melatonin causes depression, moodiness, and general lack of energy. The depression can be dangerous if it leads to thoughts of suicide. Time for mental health intervention if truly "Life is not pleasant anymore."

Soloman is writing to encourage readers to remember God. Can we really ever forget Him? You can see Him in creation around you every day, but if your eyes are clouded with SAD or life is otherwise just plain unpleasant, maybe you don’t see God. Open your eyes; open your heart—and ask God to reveal Himself to you. Remember once again what David said to his son, Solomon:

And Solomon, my son, learn to know the God of your ancestors intimately. Worship and serve him with your whole heart and a willing mind. For the LORD sees every heart and knows every plan and thought. If you seek him, you will find him. But if you forsake him, he will reject you forever. 1 Chronicles 28:9

Seek God while you are young. When you find Him, keep on seeking Him and build a good relationship with Him—so that you go with Him…and take Him with you…all the days of your life—wherever you go and whatever you do. As David wrote…worship and serve Him with your whole heart and a willing mind. That should bring a pleasantness to your life—with all the beauty that He has created and you have observed before your eyes get dim.

Prayer ~ Lord God, I worship You with all my heart, soul, mind and strength—and I adore all that You have created from the sun, moon and stars to the oceans with starfish, mountains, and deserts with star flowers. You are an amazing creator. Thank You for creating us—all the people around the world.

Verse of Salvation ~ The LORD, the Mighty One, is God, and he has spoken; he has summoned all humanity from where the sun rises to where it sets. ... Repent, all of you who forget me, or I will tear you apart, and no one will help you. But giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors me. If you keep to my path, I will reveal to you the salvation of God." Psalm 50:1, 22-23

Memory Verse of the Week: Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Psalm 119:105 KJV

Friday’s Feast at the King’s Table

Eat a pomegranate.
...but don't be tempted by a snake like Eve and Adam.

We can’t live on bread alone. We need fresh fruits and vegetables. Jesus probably ate fresh pomegranates—and those are in season and available to us in stores now. According to Jewish tradition these are 613 seeds in each pomegranate which is the same number of the laws that God gave to Israel. Those seeds provide lots of fiber. They are also high in B Vitamins, Vitamin C, copper and magnesium. Eat healthy and enjoy.
