Hope for New Bodies

Meditate.

Against its will, all creation was subjected to God's curse. But with eager hope, the creation looks forward to the day when it will join God's children in glorious freedom from death and decay. For we know that all creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. And we believers also groan, even though we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory, for we long for our bodies to be released from sin and suffering. We, too, wait with eager hope for the day when God will give us our full rights as his adopted children, including the new bodies he has promised us. We were given this hope when we were saved. (If we already have something, we don't need to hope for it. But if we look forward to something we don't yet have, we must wait patiently and confidently.) Romans 8:20-25

With new bodies, believers will be glorified. It is promised that we have a foretaste of future glory—that is the glorified bodies—just like Jesus after His resurrection. But we must wait…patiently.

We grow weary in our present bodies, and we long to put on our heavenly bodies like new clothing. For we will put on heavenly bodies; we will not be spirits without bodies. 2 Corinthians 5:2-3

We don’t know what our heavenly bodies will be like, or what it truly means to be “glorified” but we do have the promise that we will be like Christ.

Dear friends, we are already God's children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is. 1 John 3:2

Glorious freedom…in glorious bodies. Yes. Glory. Glory. Glory be to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. I eagerly wait for that day…to be glorified in a new body…to see Jesus…and to be with Him always—wherever He goes. How about you? Do you have hope for a new body?

Baptism in the Jordan River
Israel

Prayer ~ Jesus Christ, all who have been united with You in baptism have put on You, like putting on new clothes. From
Galatians 3:27. We look forward to the pure white robes that we will see in Heaven.

Verses of Salvation ~ After this I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white robes and held palm branches in their hands. And they were shouting with a great roar, "Salvation comes from our God who sits on the throne and from the Lamb!" Revelation 7:9-10
