Is Your Goal to Please God?

Meditate. Consider your spiritual goals.

A sincere heart has Christ at the center...
and faithfully brings glory to God.

So whether we are here in this body or away from this body, our goal is to please him. For we must all stand before Christ to be judged. We will each receive whatever we deserve for the good or evil we have done in this earthly body. Because we understand our fearful responsibility to the Lord, we work hard to persuade others. God knows we are sincere, and I hope you know this, too. Are we commending ourselves to you again? No, we are giving you a reason to be proud of us, so you can answer those who brag about having a spectacular ministry rather than having a sincere heart. If it seems we are crazy, it is to bring glory to God. And if we are in our right minds, it is for your benefit. Either way, Christ's love controls us. Since we believe that Christ died for all, we also believe that we have all died to our old life. He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them. 2 Corinthians 5:9-15

What is your spiritual goal for this year…this month…this week…today? Is your spiritual goal to please God? According to Paul’s teaching to the church at Corinth, that should be our goal. Why? Because we must all stand before Christ to be judged. From Daniel’s description, there will be a Throne of Judgment for each God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. Daniel described the throne being put into place for God the Father—the Ancient One—to judge.

I watched as thrones were put in place and the Ancient One sat down to judge. His clothing was as white as snow, his hair like purest wool. He sat on a fiery throne with wheels of blazing fire…. Daniel 7:9

Knowing that everyone is going to be judged could be a good motivation to live to please God, and that day is coming…soon and very soon. We don’t know when, but God has a plan. There will be no secrets.

And this is the message I proclaim—that the day is coming when God, through Christ Jesus, will judge everyone's secret life. Romans 2:16

Christ died for our sins. As Paul explained to the Corinthians, and us, God expects us to tell others about this salvation. Have you ever explained it to anyone? Make it your spiritual goal this week, this month, and throughout this year. Is this your goal—your way—to please God?

Prayer ~ Lord God, open the doors of opportunity for me to tell at least one person this week about Jesus and His death, resurrection and promise to return. I cling to His promise… There is more than enough room in my Father's home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? John 14:2. Come quickly, Lord Jesus.

Verse of Salvation ~ [This is what the Lord says….] Let all the world look to me for salvation! For I am God; there is no other. Isaiah 45:22

Memory Verse for the Week ~ Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” John 14:6 NLT
