With Music and Singing We Celebrate the Lord’s Mighty Acts

Prayer – Lord, You are awesome. You blessed David…and You bless us with Your mighty strength, power, mercy, and unfailing love. Please show me something new in this scripture today that I can apply to my life and share with others—bringing us all closer to You.

How the king rejoices in your strength, O LORD! He shouts with joy because you give him victory. For you have given him his heart's desire; you have withheld nothing he requested. You welcomed him back with success and prosperity. You placed a crown of finest gold on his head. He asked you to preserve his life, and you granted his request. The days of his life stretch on forever. Your victory brings him great honor, and you have clothed him with splendor and majesty. You have endowed him with eternal blessings and given him the joy of your presence. For the king trusts in the LORD. The unfailing love of the Most High will keep him from stumbling. You will capture all your enemies. Your strong right hand will seize all who hate you. You will throw them in a flaming furnace when you appear. The LORD will consume them in his anger; fire will devour them. You will wipe their children from the face of the earth; they will never have descendants. Although they plot against you, their evil schemes will never succeed. For they will turn and run when they see your arrows aimed at them. Rise up, O LORD, in all your power. With music and singing we celebrate your mighty acts. Psalm 21:1-13

Meditate. Consider God’s power.

David is the king praising the Lord for all He has done for him. God was certainly good to King David giving him victory over his enemies…and giving him his heart’s desire. We are not kings or priests…at least not yet…but God will still give us our heart’s desires. Trust Him. He has promised…and in addition, He will keep you from stumbling.

Let the whole world bless our God and loudly sing his praises. Our lives are in his hands, and he keeps our feet from stumbling. Psalm 66:8-9

Hiking in Arizona.
No stumbling along this path--God kept us safe.
Sing praises to the Lord.
Safe and secure in His Love.

Stumbling is not a good thing, since it can result in a fall and falls often result in broken bones. I’ll gladly claim God’s promise that He keeps our feet from stumbling! That is a great promise for those of us who in the mirror or see a photo of ourselves and see an older person there. “Who is that old lady?” I’ve asked myself that question several times. Hmmm. I can’t be getting that old, but I have passed the 70 mark…but I’m not stopping yet, so one day I may see the big 80 roll into my life, if the Lord tarries longer.

There are Bible teachers out there who have calculated and back-calculated the end times…but truly only God the Father knows His plan and His timing. So, like David, we just need to trust Him. Jesus told us to “be ready” for we don’t know when He will return. Is part of that “being ready” bringing others to Christ—for them to know Him as their Savior? Yes, I think that is true since when Jesus left His disciples for the last time He commissioned them to go into all the world making disciples of others. We are to do the same. On this Lord’s Sabbath day, we celebrate Him.

Rise up, O LORD, in all your power. With music and singing we celebrate your mighty acts.

Verses of Salvation ~ Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty, yet I will rejoice in the LORD! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation! The Sovereign LORD is my strength! He makes me as surefooted as a deer, able to tread upon the heights.  Habakkuk 3:17-19
