Are You Letting the Lord Speak to You?

Prayer – Lord, please open my eyes, ears, and heart to understanding Your words in the Bible. Help me to see ways to apply it to my life…and keep me walking along the straight and narrow path that leads to You. Fill me with Your insights, wisdom and understanding—giving me increased hope and joy in my life that I can share with others.

For we were not making up clever stories when we told you about the powerful coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. We saw his majestic splendor with our own eyes when he received honor and glory from God the Father. The voice from the majestic glory of God said to him, "This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy." We ourselves heard that voice from heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain. Because of that experience, we have even greater confidence in the message proclaimed by the prophets. You must pay close attention to what they wrote, for their words are like a lamp shining in a dark place—until the Day dawns, and Christ the Morning Star shines in your hearts. Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet's own understanding, or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God.  2 Peter 1:16-21

Meditate. Intentionally ask the Lord to speak to you through His word today.

The Empty Tomb
Jerusalem, Israel

Peter saw Jesus...before His Death...and
after His Resurrection.
Do you see Jesus working in your life?

Peter saw Jesus himself—and heard the voice of our Heavenly Father praising Jesus. Peter was an eyewitness. That is a privilege and honor that we can all look forward to one day—but until that day we just have to base our belief in God and Jesus on faith. Believing in what we cannot see—and trusting that what we read from the prophets and historical books in the Bible is truly inspired by the Holy Spirit. The Bible is God’s living and holy word. I trust what I read there. It amazes me that no matter how many times I’ll read a passage I see new things—new truths. It was there all the time…and yet it is a living document speaking to me and to you. Have you experienced this for yourself? If not, then try reading a passage—even something familiar like Psalm 23—or one of my favorites, Psalm 1, every day for a week. Pray before you read it…and then meditate on just a word or two…like “blessed” or “my shepherd” for a couple of minutes. Focus on asking God to reveal some new insight to you. Then read the Psalm or passage over. Reflect on just what the Lord is saying to you in that passage that day. Write it down so you can remember it. Repeat that the next day. Has the Lord impressed you with something different in the passage? After seven days you are likely to see something special that you hadn’t noticed before. Talk to God about that. It is His word…not your interpretation…that you want to comprehend and consider. Read that passage again in a couple weeks, a month, or a year. Do you have any new insights?

Jesus brought joy to His Heavenly Father. What a proud Papa He was and is! Do you feel that our Heavenly Father is proud of you? I was going to ask…How can you make Him proud of you? There is nothing we can do except believe in Jesus as our Savior. That choice will cause the heavens to rejoice and our Heavenly Father to be delighted…enough to make each of us a part of His family. Then, as Paul wrote to the church in Thessalonica, we can share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Verse of Salvation ~ He called you to salvation when we told you the Good News; now you can share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Thessalonians 2:14

Memory Verse of the Week ~ So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31 NLT
