Prayer –
Lord God, I want to know You…more and more each day. Open my eyes and heart to Your
truths.
"God is powerful and dreadful. He enforces peace in the heavens. Who is able to count his heavenly army? Doesn't his light shine on all the earth? How can a mortal be innocent before God? Can anyone born of a woman be pure? God is more glorious than the moon; he shines brighter than the stars. In comparison, people are maggots; we mortals are mere worms." Job 25:2-6
Meditate on God’s word—His attributes.
God is powerful. God is awesome…and scary. This scripture passage today from Job is a response of Job’s friend Bildad in a discussion with Job about God’s attributes and wicked people’s actions. God is powerful He is to be dreaded…but not by those who love Him, keep His commandments, and willingly serve Him. Most important of all is simply believing in Jesus as the Savior of the world—no works involved. He wants to have a relationship with each person who believes in Him—to know Him is to be part of His family. He gave up so much for mankind. I for one am grateful beyond comprehension.
Bildad said
that people are mere worms…and he may be right…but as believers, we belong to
God. He is powerful…and dreadful. He can be downright scary. He wanted people
living in the Promised Land destroyed—for they were sinful, idol worshippers.
He wanted the pure people—His chosen people to occupy a pure land. The Israelites
had to fight for their land–but God was with them…fighting for them. So much
fighting. So much blood shed.
For my angel will go before you and bring you into the land of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hivites, and Jebusites, so you may live there. And I will destroy them completely. Exodus 23:23
Powerful.
Scary. Loving. Kind. King of kings. Lord of Lords. Lamb of God. Is this the God you know?
Verse of Salvation ~ Look upon my suffering and rescue me, for I have not forgotten your instructions. Argue my case; take my side! Protect my life as you promised. The For my angel will go before you and bring you into the land of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hivites, and Jebusites, so you may live there. And I will destroy them completely. - Exodus 23:23 NLT wicked are far from rescue (salvation), for they do not bother with your decrees. LORD, how great is your mercy; let me be revived by following your regulations. Many persecute and trouble me, yet I have not swerved from your laws. Psalm 119:153-157
Memory Verse of the Week ~ So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31 NLT
