Prayer – Lord, do I hear You laughing? I imagine it to be a glorious, wonderful sound! I praise You Lord—as I take shelter under Your wings—protected from all storms, violence and tragedies. Thank You.
Why are the nations so angry? Why do they waste their
time with futile plans? The kings of the earth prepare for battle; the rulers
plot together against the LORD and against his anointed one. "Let us break
their chains," they cry, "and free ourselves from slavery to
God." But the one who rules in heaven laughs. The Lord scoffs at
them. Then in anger he rebukes them, terrifying them with his fierce fury. For
the Lord declares, "I have placed my chosen king on the throne in
Jerusalem, on my holy mountain." The king proclaims the LORD's decree:
"The LORD said to me, 'You are my son. Today I have become your Father.
Only ask, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance, the whole earth
as your possession. You will break them with an iron rod and smash them like
clay pots.'" Now then, you kings, act wisely! Be warned, you rulers of the
earth! Serve the LORD with reverent fear, and rejoice with trembling. Submit to
God's royal son, or he will become angry, and you will be destroyed in the
midst of all your activities—for his anger flares up in an instant. But what
joy for all who take refuge in him! Psalm
2:1-12 (Underlined for emphasis.)
Meditate. Can you see the Lord laughing at rulers of the
earth?
Can you see the Lord laughing at rulers of the earth? When
the earthly rulers want to free themselves from God…He laughs and reprimands
them. Ha! Silly people. God is all powerful. If we are not slaves to God, then
we are slaves to sin.
When you were slaves
to sin, you were free from the obligation to do right. And what was the result?
You are now ashamed of the things you used to do, things that end in eternal
doom. But now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God.
Now you do those things that lead to holiness and result in eternal life. For
the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through
Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:20-23
It is really good to trust God with your problems and with
your future. I feel that way. Safe and secure—oh sure…like everyone, I have fears
of other cars crashing into me, of being attacked by hoodlums in a busy city
alley, or of being chased by wild animals in the woods. But I trust that God is
going to take care of me—even if I get some dreaded disease or have to walk
miles in the dark. He is with me. I love the thought of being under His
protective wings.
Those who live in
the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This
I declare about the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my
God, and I trust him. For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you
from deadly disease. He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you
with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. Psalm
91:1-4
He may laugh at others…but we will laugh with Him.
Verse of Salvation ~ David sang this song to the LORD on
the day the LORD rescued him from all his enemies and from Saul. He sang:
"The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in
whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place
of safety. He is my refuge, my savior, the one who saves me from violence. 2
