Only Fools Say “There is No God”

Prayer – Lord, I am seeking You…and ask that You please give me wisdom and discernment. I am no fool—I just want to know You more day by day, to understand Your word, and apply it to my life. I rejoice in just knowing You…and knowing that I am loved by You. Thank You.

Only fools say in their hearts, "There is no God." They are corrupt, and their actions are evil; not one of them does good! The LORD looks down from heaven on the entire human race; he looks to see if anyone is truly wise, if anyone seeks God. But no, all have turned away; all have become corrupt. No one does good, not a single one! Will those who do evil never learn? They eat up my people like bread and wouldn't think of praying to the LORD. Terror will grip them, for God is with those who obey him. The wicked frustrate the plans of the oppressed, but the LORD will protect his people. Who will come from Mount Zion to rescue Israel? When the LORD restores his people, Jacob will shout with joy, and Israel will rejoice. Psalm 14:1-7

Who may worship in your sanctuary, LORD? Who may enter your presence on your holy hill? Those who lead blameless lives and do what is right, speaking the truth from sincere hearts. Those who refuse to gossip or harm their neighbors or speak evil of their friends. Those who despise flagrant sinners, and honor the faithful followers of the LORD, and keep their promises even when it hurts. Those who lend money without charging interest, and who cannot be bribed to lie about the innocent. Such people will stand firm forever. Psalm 15:1-5

Meditate. Read God’s word and listen to what He is saying.

When you look at these passages of scripture, you can see that there are two groups: the corrupt, foolish people and the sincere, blameless people. The wicked and the faithful. It is God that delineates between these two groups…not David…not me. To which group do you picture yourself belonging?

Adam and Eve were tempted in
the Garden of Eden.
Their sin was on all mankind--
but Jesus paid the price of all our sins.

God is showing us here in Psalm 15 that those who will worship Him in His Holy Heavenly Temple must be pure and blameless. So how do we accomplish that? Everyone sins…we can’t escape that fact since Adam and Eve disobeyed God, and we are their descendants, so we have a sinful nature. The result of sin is death—so everyone will die, spiritually and physically. God loves the world—His creation—so much that He gave His Son as a sacrifice for the sin of mankind. Remember, the result of sin is death—but Jesus’ death for us erases our sin. Confess your sin. Repent and believe. That makes us pure and blameless so that we can stand before the Almighty God where we can worship Him in His sanctuary. This will only be true for those who believe. Not true for the fools—the unbelievers. Only fools say, “There is No God.”

Verse of Salvation ~ If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

Memory Verse of the Week ~ For the LORD watches over the path of the godly, but the path of the wicked leads to destruction. Psalm 1:6
