Where Do You Find Dry Ground?

Then God said, "Let the waters beneath the sky flow together into one place, so dry ground may appear." And that is what happened.  Genesis 1:9

Memory Scripture of the Week –
Genesis 1:9 Then God said, "Let the waters beneath the sky flow together into one place, so dry ground may appear." And that is what happened.
Genesis 1:10 God called the dry ground "land" and the waters "seas." And God saw that it was good.
Genesis 1:11 Then God said, "Let the land sprout with vegetation—every sort of seed-bearing plant, and trees that grow seed-bearing fruit. These seeds will then produce the kinds of plants and trees from which they came." And that is what happened.
Genesis 1:12-13 The land produced vegetation--all sorts of seed-bearing plants, and trees with seed-bearing fruit. Their seeds produced plants and trees of the same kind. And God saw that it was good. And evening passed and morning came, marking the third day.
Genesis 1:14-15 Then God said, "Let lights appear in the sky to separate the day from the night. Let them be signs to mark the seasons, days, and years. Let these lights in the sky shine down on the earth." And that is what happened.
Genesis 1:16 God made two great lights—the larger one to govern the day, and the smaller one to govern the night. He also made the stars.
Genesis 1:17-19 God set these lights in the sky to light the earth, to govern the day and night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. And evening passed and morning came, marking the fourth day.

Dry Ground Appeared.
Dry Ground. There are several incidences of dry ground in the Bible. Consider the Hebrew people as they faced the plagues, the exodus from Egypt and their entry into the Promised Land. Another episode of dry ground occurs during Elijah’s prophesy.

And if they don't believe you or listen to you even after these two signs, then take some water from the Nile River and pour it out on the dry ground. When you do, the water from the Nile will turn to blood on the ground." Exodus 4:9

…the people of Israel walked through the middle of the sea on dry ground, with walls of water on each side! Exodus 14:22

Meanwhile, the priests who were carrying the Ark of the LORD's Covenant stood on dry ground in the middle of the riverbed as the people passed by. They waited there until the whole nation of Israel had crossed the Jordan on dry ground. Joshua 3:17

Then Elijah folded his cloak together and struck the water with it. The river divided, and the two of them went across on dry ground! 2 Kings 2:8

Dry Ground.  One of my hubby’s favorite movies is “Water World” where water covers the whole earth in some future time and people are searching for Dry Ground. Of course, there are good guys and bad guys who are involved in some brutal scenes with machine guns, so it’s not a “family” movie. I don’t want to spoil it for you…but the good guys do find Dry Ground with lots of plants and fresh water. Life will be good there.

God created dry ground and provided it for His chosen people on more than one occasion.  Have you ever experienced dry ground…like a refuge in a storm…where spiritually God has provided peace—or at least a serene place during a time of turmoil? I can certainly say that He has done that for me. Once was when I was dealing with a traumatic situation in our extended family, friends of my sister came along side of us and helped out. That gave me peace. Dry stable ground of peace in an ugly stormy time. I hope that God has ministered to you through His people in some way…or used you to help others out when they are passing through the valley of the shadow of death.

Prayer ~ Lord Jesus, Thank you for creating dry ground and protection as we pass through times of trouble, trial, temptation, turmoil or travail. You gathered the waters together and let the dry ground appear during the beginning of Creation. Please continue to keep Your followers safe on Your holy dry ground physically and spiritually. We look to You as our Savior and our Redeemer. Continue to bless all who search for and follow You in Israel and around the world.
