Memory Scripture of the Week
Genesis 1:1-2 In the beginning God created the
heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered
the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the
waters.
Genesis 1:3-4 Then God said, "Let there be
light," and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. Then he
separated the light from the darkness.
Genesis
1:5 God called the light "day" and the darkness "night."
And evening passed and morning came, marking the first day.
Genesis 1:6 Then God said, "Let there be a
space between the waters, to separate the waters of the heavens from the waters
of the earth."
Genesis 1:7 And that is what happened. God made this
space to separate the waters of the earth from the waters of the heavens.
Genesis 1:8 God called the space "sky."
And evening passed and morning came, marking the second day.
Can we mark time without light? |
Imagine how
God must have felt when He marked the
first day! Overwhelming to us humans—just to consider the magnitude of it
all. Poof-Bang-Boom! Darkness and Light. Day One. God was going to be
exceptionally busy continuing His Creation. So powerful—and we just take night
and day for granted. It happens—we can’t change a thing except to turn on or
off a light switch. Let there be light.
Prayer ~ Lord God, You have given us
such a wonderful gift with light…and even with darkness—so that we may rest. We
rest in Your presence…knowing that You will bring the light of day…tomorrow. You are the Light...and You are always with us. We are not alone in darkness.
