Memory Scripture of the Week –
Genesis 1:9 Then God said, "Let the waters
beneath the sky flow together into one place, so dry ground may appear."
And that is what happened.
Genesis
1:10 God called the dry ground "land" and the waters
"seas." And God saw that it was good.
Genesis 1:11 Then God said, "Let the land
sprout with vegetation—every sort of seed-bearing plant, and trees that grow
seed-bearing fruit. These seeds will then produce the kinds of plants and trees
from which they came." And that is what happened.
Genesis 1:12-13 The land produced vegetation--all
sorts of seed-bearing plants, and trees with seed-bearing fruit. Their seeds
produced plants and trees of the same kind. And God saw that it was good. And
evening passed and morning came, marking the third day.
Genesis 1:14-15 Then God said, "Let lights
appear in the sky to separate the day from the night. Let them be signs to mark
the seasons, days, and years. Let these lights in the sky shine down on the
earth." And that is what happened.
Genesis 1:16 God made two great lights—the larger
one to govern the day, and the smaller one to govern the night. He also made
the stars.
Genesis 1:17-19 God set these lights in the sky to
light the earth, to govern the day and night, and to separate the light from
the darkness. And God saw that it was good. And evening passed and morning
came, marking the fourth day.
It was good. Good. God judged His Creation as…good.
So often we are asked to rate something as poor, fair, good, excellent or
outstanding, but God didn’t have that rating system. Good was good. If you read
ahead in the rest of this first chapter of Genesis you’ll see that God used
this pronouncement several times. See Genesis 1:10, 12, 18, 21 and 25. It was good. Then in
Genesis 1:31 God gives Himself another kudo—a higher mark of excellence. It was
very good.
Pacific Ocean - Oregon Coast Dry Ground...Land. Waters...Sea. It was good. |
The dry ground, “land” and the water, “sea.” God knew that all that
He was to create couldn’t just live in the water…or on the land. Both were
necessary. There is a balance between earth and sea. We need the sea not only
for the plants and creatures that live there, but also for the evaporation of
water to form clouds and “water” the earth. That water cycle…with water
returning to the sea takes nutrients back to the oceans. The whole process is
ever so complicated…yet simple. God is magnificent in His design of the systems
of the earth. What do you like most about the “land” and the “sea”?
Prayer ~ Lord Jesus...I see You as good…as very good. Thank You
for Your wonderful creation. The land and the sea are so essential to the
beginning of life…and are a delight to behold. I love going to the ocean and
hearing the roar of the sea. It is renewing and refreshing to me. I am eagerly waiting
for spring—so be out in my garden, digging in the soil—the very earth that You
created. It is good.
