Rescue Us!

Jesus gave his life for our sins, just as God our Father planned, in order to rescue us from this evil world in which we live. Galatians 1:4

Memory Scripture of the Week:
Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy.
May your Kingdom come soon.
May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us today the food we need,
and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us.
And don't let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one.
Matthew 6:9-13 [Focus on a phrase each day.]

And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one.

Rescue us!
You must worship only the LORD your God. He is the one who will rescue you from all your enemies.  2 Kings 17:39
Jesus prayed for His followers always…but especially on the night He was arrested, tried and crucified. “Keep them safe” was His plea and make them holy. What a great request.
Now I am coming to you. I told them many things while I was with them in this world so they would be filled with my joy. I have given them your word. And the world hates them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world. I'm not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one. They do not belong to this world any more than I do. Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth. John 17:13-17
Parting of the Red Sea - Exodus Rescue
Lego Creation by Isaac Hunacek
Do you ever feel like you need to be rescued? God rescued the Hebrew people by parting the waters of the Red Sea and allowing them to cross on dry ground. When do we need to be rescued?

There have been times I’ve made some hasty or poor decisions—mostly small stuff—like overbooking myself to the point that I have three things going on at the same time! That eventually means I have to give up what I wanted to do and help out with some project that seemed worthwhile at the time of the commitment. For me I just need a scheduling rescue…or rescue from all the stuff I’ve accumulated. Am I a hoarder? I think the evil one has plotted against me—tempting me—to take up my time, resources and talents so that my focus is off the Lord, His will and His work. Yes—Lord rescue me from the oppressive clutter in my life—physically, mentally and spiritually. Do you ever feel that way? Does your stuff and projects bring you joy? Will you have joy in parting with the clutter—physically or spiritually—in your life?  I’ve learned that like Jesus…I must be obedient. Say “Yes” to God and “No” to the devil. Don’t compromise my values.

Prayer ~ Lord Jesus—Hurrah.  You rescue us! You are the victor over the tempter! As You taught Your disciples...lead us not into temptation. Give us courage when faced with temptation to boldly say..."Get out of here, Satan."  Thank You that You gave us such a dynamic example up there on that mountain looking into those countries. No bowing down to the devil. Worship the Lord your God and serve Him only.
