Begin at the Beginning

Memory Scripture of the Week
Genesis 1:1-2  In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.
Genesis 1:3-4  Then God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. Then he separated the light from the darkness.
Genesis 1:5 God called the light "day" and the darkness "night." And evening passed and morning came, marking the first day.
Genesis 1:6 Then God said, "Let there be a space between the waters, to separate the waters of the heavens from the waters of the earth."
Genesis 1:7 And that is what happened. God made this space to separate the waters of the earth from the waters of the heavens.
Genesis 1:8 God called the space "sky." And evening passed and morning came, marking the second day.

Review:
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. Then God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. Then he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light "day" and the darkness "night." And evening passed and morning came, marking the first day. Then God said, "Let there be a space between the waters, to separate the waters of the heavens from the waters of the earth." And that is what happened. God made this space to separate the waters of the earth from the waters of the heavens. God called the space "sky." And evening passed and morning came, marking the second day. Genesis 1:1-8

God created the heavens and the earth with deep waters…light and dark and that area between the water called space or sky. God said…and it happened. He has such power. Note that the light was good. Who is good except God? Jesus said…
I have come as a light to shine in this dark world, so that all who put their trust in me will no longer remain in the dark. John 12:46
Jesus is the light of the world.
The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it. John 1:4-5

Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, "I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won't have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life." John 8:12
So image the light shining in the darkness. Jesus…shining in the darkness. He was the one creating Creation and in His purity and light shone through the darkness. Spark. Flash. A bright blinding light across the heavens and earth. And God saw that the light was good. God is good!

Prayer ~ Dear God—Your Creation is awesome to behold…to just grasp the expanse of it. Heavens and earth, water, light and darkness—separated by space. Please give me wisdom to understand the vastness, depth, and spiritual significance of Your Creation. And help me to memorize Your word—hiding it deep in my mind and writing it on my heart.
