Meditate. Thirsty? Hungry?
"Is anyone thirsty? Come and
drink--even if you have no money! Come, take your choice of wine or milk--it's
all free! Why spend your money on food that does not give you strength? Why pay
for food that does you no good? Listen to me, and you will eat what is good. You
will enjoy the finest food. Come to me with your ears wide open. Listen, and
you will find life. I will make an everlasting covenant with you. I will give
you all the unfailing love I promised to David. See how I used him to display
my power among the peoples. I made him a leader among the nations. You also
will command nations you do not know, and peoples unknown to you will come
running to obey, because I, the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, have
made you glorious." Isaiah 55:1-5
Thirsty or Hungry? |
Food…for your body, for your mind or for
your soul. Listening can provide food for you at any level or dimension of your
life. Listen to the Lord and He will give us good food for our mind and spirit. Come to Him with your ears
open…listen closely. This good food will give life to you…eternal life. Yet eternal
life is only available to those who believe in Jesus as the Son of God…as
Savior.
For God loved the world so much that he gave
his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but
have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but
to save the world through him. John 3:16-17
Listen to what God is saying here. He gave
up His own Son for the salvation of world—the whole world…not just the Jews…but
everyone who believes. This is
spiritual food. Jesus points us to spiritual rather than physical food.
But don't be so concerned about perishable
things like food. Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that the Son of
Man can give you. For God the Father has given me the seal of his approval. John
6:27
This love…everlasting, unfailing love…is
the love that God has shown us through Jesus. Are you listening…did you hear
what God was saying? Have you accepted Jesus as your Savior? Listen and you
will find life.
Prayer
~ Lord God, You told the truth to those who listen to Your message and believe that
You sent Jesus to that we could have eternal life. We will never be condemned
for our sins, but we have already passed from death into life. From John 5:24.
Thank You that we enter into eternal life with You…with Jesus and with the Holy
Spirit…immediately when we believe. I’m listening…I believe.

Friday’s
Feast at the King’s Table
As usual every Friday is Feast Day—Feasting at the King’s Table. We can’t
live on just spiritual food …nor can we live on bread alone. We’ve got to have
some meat, veggies, fruit and treats. Choose wisely. It is so tempting during
this Stay Home—Stay Safe time to eat whatever we want…whatever is available to
us. My motto is…if you don’t buy it, you won’t eat it. Of course, homemade
tastes best. Here’s a recipe for some tasty cookies that a dear friend of mine
gave me at Christmas one year. She called me yesterday and is calling all the
people on her Christmas Card list…one person a day, just to check on them
during this time of isolation. What a considerate thing to do. Thinking of her
made me think of these cookies. Enjoy some this weekend as you contact people
you know and care about.
Three Ginger Cookies
2 ½ cups all-purpose
flour
½ cup minced
crystallized ginger
2 teaspoons baking
soda
¼ teaspoon salt
¾ cup (1½ sticks)
unsalted butter, room temperature
1 cup (packed) dark
brown sugar
1 large egg
¼ cup molasses
1½ Tablespoons finely
grated fresh peeled ginger
2 teaspoons ground
ginger
1 teaspoon ground
cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground
cloves
1/3 cup sugar
Position
1 rack in top third and 1 rack in bottom third of oven; preheat to 350°F. Line
2 baking sheets with parchment paper. Whisk flour, crystallized ginger, baking
soda, and salt in medium bowl. Using electric mixer, beat butter in large bowl
until creamy and light, about 2 minutes. Gradually beat in brown sugar. Beat on
medium-high speed until creamy, about 3 minutes. Add egg, molasses, fresh
ginger, ground ginger, cinnamon, and cloves. Beat to blend. Add flour mixture
in 2 additions, beating on low speed just to blend between additions.
Place
1/3 cup sugar in small bowl. Measure 1 tablespoon dough. Roll into ball between
palms of hands, then roll in sugar in bowl to coat; place on baking sheet.
Repeat with remaining cookie dough, spacing cookies about 2 inches apart.
Bake
cookies until surfaces crack and cookies are firm around edges but still
slightly soft in center, about 10 minutes. Cool completely on sheets on rack.
Cookies
can be made up to 4 days ahead. Store in airtight
containers at room temperature.
