Mediate.
And as we live in God, our love grows more
perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him
with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world. Such love has no
fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of
punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.
1 John 4:17-18
Look at fear…or no fear…and what the Bible
has to say about a few fears.
Heights / Falling -
Remember him before you become fearful of
falling and worry about danger in the streets; before your hair turns white
like an almond tree in bloom, and you drag along without energy like a dying
grasshopper, and the caperberry no longer inspires sexual desire. Remember him before
you near the grave, your everlasting home, when the mourners will weep at your
funeral. Ecclesiastes 12:5
Being alone - David went to the town of Nob to see
Ahimelech the priest. Ahimelech trembled when he saw him. "Why are you
alone?" he asked. "Why is no one with you?"
1 Samuel 21:1
Future - She is clothed with strength and dignity,
and she laughs without fear of the future. Proverbs 31:25
Punishment / Death - Then all the men of his town must stone him
to death. In this way, you will purge this evil from among you, and all Israel
will hear about it and be afraid. Deuteronomy 21:21
Abandonment - Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the
LORD will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail
you nor abandon you. Deuteronomy 31:8
It's OK to be afraid, but with God’s promises we can trust Him…and have
no fear. Search the Scriptures to find reassurance from that which causes you to be afraid. Can you give the Lord your fears?
Prayer
~ Lord, You told Joshua to…"be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and
do not panic before them. For the LORD your God will personally go ahead of
you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you." Deuteronomy 31:6. I claim
these for myself, too. With Your help and guidance I will not be afraid…I know
that You will not abandon me. Thank You.
Verse
of Salvation ~ But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die
for us while we were still sinners. And since we have been made right in God's
sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God's
condemnation. For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of
his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the
life of his Son. Romans 5:8-10

Restful Lavender |
Lavender is in bloom…and it has such a
relaxing calming effect on people’s moods…maybe it will remove fear. Enjoy
these fresh lavender scones for breakfast soon.
Fresh Lavender Scones
2 cups flour
1⁄2
cup rolled oats
2 teaspoons baking
powder
1⁄2
teaspoon salt
1⁄4
cup butter
1⁄2
cup walnuts, chopped
11⁄2 tablespoons lavender
flowers, fresh
2 eggs, beaten
1⁄3
cup honey (or 1 Tbsp sugar)
1⁄2
cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla
Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
In a large bowl, combine flour, oats, baking powder and salt. Cut in butter
until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add walnuts and lavender, mixing
until combined.
Make a well in the
center of the flour mixture. Add the eggs, honey, buttermilk and vanilla. Stir
to combine, mixing to form a soft dough. Add just a tad more flour if too
sticky, as it may depend on the humidity in your area. With floured hands, pat
the dough into a square about 1 inch thick and cut into smaller squares using a
large pastry cutter. Makes about 12.
Place scones on a
parchment lined or non-stick cookie sheet and bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or
until lightly browned. Remove from heat. Serve warm with lemon curd.
