Guard the Gift—Truth

…I am not ashamed of it, for I know the one in whom I trust, and I am sure that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until the day of His return. Hold on to the pattern of wholesome teaching you learned from me—a pattern shaped by the faith and love that you have in Christ Jesus. Through the power of the Holy Spirit who lives within us, carefully guard the precious truth that has been entrusted to you. 2 Timothy 1:12-14 NLT

What is the best gift of the season? Precious truth given to you. That truth is that Jesus IS the Son of God—He is God. I was recently reading to my granddaughter the story of Josiah who became King of Judah at the age of eight. That is pretty young. She asked how he could be a king. Well, his father was a king—so he was in the same business as his father—that made him king when his father died. So Jesus is the King—like His Heavenly Father. Both are seated on thrones in Heaven. Guard that truth. Jesus said… I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. John 14:6. Don’t be ashamed to tell others the truth about Jesus—our King—and His marvelous works. Paul also told the Romans… For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. Romans 1:16. The Holy Spirit will give you power to defend the facts about Jesus. What an awesome responsibility. We have been called to not be ashamed—but to proclaim that Jesus is our Lord, our King. He is the best gift of the season!

Prayer ~ Holy Spirit, give us the power to stand up for Jesus especially during this season where Jesus is given a second seat on Santa’s sleigh. I am not ashamed of the gospel—for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone. Salvation! Please bless those who are searching for Jesus to fill the emptiness in their lives. Take the hardness from their hearts and the blindness from their eyes. Especially give the desire to have Jesus as their Savior to those whose lives are shortened by illness. Provide the opportunity for someone to lead them to the Lord for them to experience the joy of Jesus in their lives. Jesus is LORD and Savior. Jesus is my Lord and Savior. I praise You, Holy Spirit,  for revealing Jesus to me—and for God adopting me into His Family.
