Last Times…Turning Away

Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons. These people are hypocrites and liars, and their consciences are dead. They will say it is wrong to be married and wrong to eat certain foods. But God created those foods to be eaten with thanks by faithful people who know the truth. Since everything God created is good, we should not reject any of it but receive it with thanks. For we know it is made acceptable by the word of God and prayer. 1Timothy 4:1-5 NLT

The Last Times…Last Days. Are we in those days? What will we eat that will gratefully honor the Lord? Who is going to reject some good food? There are always some picky eaters that won’t eat what is put before them…and they are not three year olds—but thirty plus year olds. Are they turning away from the Lord, spiritually? Ungrateful for their spiritual food? Are they the ones following deceptive spirits and false teaching? Hypocrites and liars? Look in the mirror. What do you see? Take stock in your thoughts, words and actions. Are you slowly turning away from the truth—from the Lord? Slowly slip-sliding away? How can you prevent that from happening?

Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do. Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. Joshua 1:7-8 NLT

That is the key to obedience. Know God’s word and courageously meditate on it and follow it.

Prayer ~ Holy Spirit, guard my heart, thoughts and mind that I would continually seek to know God’s word and be obedient to Him. Help me to encourage other Christians that they would not turn away from the Truth.
