Calm Your Soul

O LORD, my heart is not proud, nor my eyes haughty; nor do I involve myself in great matters, or in things too difficult for me. Surely I have composed and quieted my soul; like a weaned child rests against his mother, my soul is like a weaned child within me. O Israel, hope in the LORD from this time forth and forever. Psalm 131:1-3

Prepare your heart for the Holy Spirit and your life for the holy days ahead of us—not for the Santa experience—but for the real reason for the Season…the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Quiet your soul. That is what David is writing about in this short three verse Psalm. Taking on a quiet, calm and tranquil spirit within oneself. No rush, no hurry, and no hidden agenda. Just a simple focus on the Lord. That is my hope for each of you as you face this last week before Christmas. Relax and let the Holy Spirit lead you. Have hope for yourself, your family, friends and neighbors…and for the nation of Israel. This holy season for us commemorates Christ’s birth in a week…and for the Jews, Hanukkah—the Festival of Lights was just celebrated earlier in December. Pray especially for hope for Israel as they continue to face attacks of violence in Jerusalem and the West Bank. Hope. It may seem simple for us as terrorism is not as evident—although it is becoming more of a problem here in the United States. Calm your soul with the hope and love of the Lord. Watch for the Holy Spirit to be at work in your life—but you may need to be in a tranquil state to see evidence of Him working in and through you.

Prayer ~ Holy Spirit—bless us with hope, peace and tranquility that can only come from You as we focus on You, take time to calm our spirits and reflect on what You, Jesus, and the Heavenly Father have done in our lives.
