Who is God? Who is the Holy Spirit?

For who is God, besides the LORD? And who is a rock, besides our God? 2 Samuel 22:32

David asked this question in a song that he sang to God after He delivered him from his enemy Saul.
Who is God? How can we “know” God? Read His word—the Bible—and He will reveal Himself to us. "I love those who love me; and those who diligently seek me will find me.” Proverbs 8:17. This is Jesus speaking…as Wisdom. He would speak the same to us of the Holy Spirit…seek the Holy Spirit and you will find Him. Do you want to know the Holy Spirit? I do—I want to experience His love and guidance just as I do that from Jesus or our Heavenly Father. We have to know someone to love them—and they have to know us to love us. God knows us already…but we have to seek Him—including the person head of the Holy Spirit—to find Him and to truly and deeply love Him.

So the best way to read the Bible is to systematically read it…but also to note what it says to you. So if you are doing a “Read it Through” challenge this year—don’t just read to read it through—but read to have God speak to you. There are lots of Bible reading plans available on line. One that I really like is found at the Navigator’s web site.
This plan guides you through reading four portions of scripture a day, for 25 days a month. That way you can catch up if you get behind…like me. I'll be "catching up" today! If you get done early in the month you can use the extra days to do more in-depth studies of passages that were of special appeal to you. There are other reading plans…just Google or Bing “Bible Reading Plans” for more scheduled reading. It’s not too late to get started, especially with the Navigator’s plan since you can really start at any time.

Prayer ~ Holy Spirit, guide me as I seek to learn more about you. Give me wisdom and understanding and opportunities to share what I’ve learned with others around me.
