Sin Keeps Man From God

Now it came about, when men began to multiply on the face of the land, and daughters were born to them, that the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves, whomever they chose. Then the LORD said, "My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, because he also is flesh; nevertheless his days shall be one hundred and twenty years." Genesis 6:1-3

God’s Spirit won’t strive with man forever. Strive. Struggle. A spiritual battle. Man’s choice back in Adam’s era was tainted by sinful nature—and lustful ways. When we strive against God, we seek our own way—thinking that we don’t need God, defending our selfish actions, and denying our guilt. God can speak to us not only through His word, but also through a pastor, a Christian friend or family member, or a tragedy. How about sickness or airplane delays? What is God telling us through this? We are in a spiritual battle. Things haven’t changed much since Adam or Noah’s time—except that we have salvation and forgiveness through Jesus’ sacrifice. That is a BIG difference.

Prayer ~ Holy Spirit, today I put—take up—on the whole armor of God that I may be able to withstand in the evil day…to stand firm. Ephesians 6:13.
