Saul was actually
blessed by being filled with the Spirit of God. Read about him in 1 Samuel. You’ll
also see that the Spirit of God left him…Now
the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD
terrorized him. 1 Samuel 16:14. The Spirit departed…left Saul. That seems
sad—but what is really terrible is that an evil spirit came instead and
evidently scared and threatened him. Saul was a bitter man after that…seeing
David as his enemy—chasing him and making life miserable for him and all his
army. There is such a difference between Saul and us. The Spirit was only with
him for a short time…but we can have the Spirit forever. God can change our
hearts…like He did Saul. If we continue in obedience, then we continue to be
filled with His Holy Spirit. Would Saul have been, too? Obedience is the key to
our relationship with the Holy Spirit—with God.
Prayer ~ Holy Spirit—fill me a new so that I can be
used by You to serve others for You. Give me a desire and attitude that is
pleasing to You.
