Blessed to Be a Blessing

When Balaam saw that it pleased the LORD to bless Israel, he did not go as at other times to seek omens but he set his face toward the wilderness. And Balaam lifted up his eyes and saw Israel camping tribe by tribe; and the Spirit of God came upon him. Numbers 24:1-2

The king of Moab, Balak, asked Balaam to curse the Israelites—but instead Balaam obeyed God by speaking the word God gave him, rather than cursing the Israelites. This is a fascinating story—share it with your children. Balaam’s donkey actually speaks to him. See Numbers 22-24 for the whole story. Balaam’s obedience to God is the center of the story…and God rewards him by filling him with His Holy Spirit and giving him words to bless Israel—not once, but three times. Blessed is the person who blesses Israel. That is a promise from the Lord.

Prayer ~ Holy Spirit—fill me that I would be obedient to be a blessing to Israel—and to other Christians around me.
