Moses was
looking out for the Israelites. He wanted them to have a leader after he was
gone. Compassion and love for his people. So God chose Joshua. Joshua had been
one of the spies who went into the Promised Land, he had assisted Moses, and he
had shown courage in fighting Amalek. He was a leader prepared for just a time
as this—and God had poured out His Holy Spirit on Joshua. Now Moses was about
to lay his hands on Joshua—to appoint him as the new leader of the Israelites
giving him responsibility to guide them as they proceeded into the Promised
Land. There in front of the whole assembly of the Hebrew people, Joshua became
their leader. Devoted, honest, trustworthy. What can we learn from Joshua’s
example and how can we apply this to our lives?
Prayer ~ Holy Spirit, as You were with Joshua, be with
each of us, giving us courage to do what is right, to put on our spiritual
armor and stand up for what is true, right and good.
