New Month – New Lessons Everyday

Prayer – Lord, teach me Your ways so that I can know You…to know Your ways and to apply what I need to learn to my life. Then help me to show Your love to others—that they would know You and love You as I do.

Grant me purity of heart, so that I may honor You.
With all my heart I will praise You, Lord.

Bend down, O LORD, and hear my prayer; answer me, for I need your help. Protect me, for I am devoted to you. Save me, for I serve you and trust you. You are my God. Be merciful to me, O Lord, for I am calling on you constantly. Give me happiness, O Lord, for I give myself to you. O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive, so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help. Listen closely to my prayer, O LORD; hear my urgent cry. I will call to you whenever I'm in trouble, and you will answer me. No pagan god is like you, O Lord. None can do what you do! All the nations you made will come and bow before you, Lord; they will praise your holy name. For you are great and perform wonderful deeds. You alone are God. Teach me your ways, O LORD, that I may live according to your truth! Grant me purity of heart, so that I may honor you. With all my heart I will praise you, O Lord my God. I will give glory to your name forever, for your love for me is very great. You have rescued me from the depths of death. O God, insolent people rise up against me; a violent gang is trying to kill me. You mean nothing to them. But you, O Lord, are a God of compassion and mercy, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness. Look down and have mercy on me. Give your strength to your servant; save me, the son of your servant. Send me a sign of your favor. Then those who hate me will be put to shame, for you, O LORD, help and comfort me. Psalm 86:1-17

Meditate. Consider how often you are calling on the Lord God.

Be merciful to me, O Lord, for I am calling on You constantly. Constantly! Well, that shows that David was…just as I am…praying constantly. That is just what Paul taught the church at Thessalonica.

Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

I’ve found that if I’m praying, then my mind and thoughts aren’t going down some rabbit trail that leads to overwhelming or depressing thoughts. I don’t need to go there. In fact, praying—rejoicing in the Lord brings me just that. Joy. Joy results in praising the Lord. That is just what He wants, because He is the God of compassion and mercy, slow to anger and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness.

Even though I’m retired, I’ve so much to do that I just don’t seem to have time to do everything…and always end up completing some task…writing my blog…or returning books to the library…at just the last minute. I do need the Lord’s help. Today I’m starting day one of walking/exercising six days a week for 20-30 minutes each day—for hopefully the rest of my life. My doctor assured me that is just what I need to do. I’ve lost ten pounds over each of the last two years! Hurrah for a total loss of twenty pounds—I hope I don’t find it lurking under my dining room table…or around the corner ready to pounce back onto me. HaHa! My goal is to keep it off—and the best way to do that is not to purchase those foods that make me fat…pizza, pasta, breads, cake, cookies, and granola! Goodbye once again to sugar, dairy products, and most grains! Round two of Whole30. I feel that by keeping my weight and blood pressure down, I am honoring the Lord. Look down and have mercy on me. How do you honor the Lord?

This is a new month. We have new opportunities for praising the Lord and new lessons every day.

Verses of Salvation ~ [For each person reading this blog today.]  I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ's return. May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation—the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ—for this will bring much glory and praise to God. Philippians 1:9-11

Memory Verse of the Week ~ Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you your heart's desires. Psalm 37:4
