Is the Light Shining on You?

Prayer – Lord, You are the light of the world. Shine in and through me. Illuminate my life...and that of my family, friend, and neighbors everywhere.

The LORD is king! Let the earth rejoice! Let the farthest coastlands be glad. Dark clouds surround him. Righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne. Fire spreads ahead of him and burns up all his foes. His lightning flashes out across the world. The earth sees and trembles. The mountains melt like wax before the LORD, before the Lord of all the earth. The heavens proclaim his righteousness; every nation sees his glory. Those who worship idols are disgraced—all who brag about their worthless gods—for every god must bow to him. Jerusalem has heard and rejoiced, and all the towns of Judah are glad because of your justice, O LORD! For you, O LORD, are supreme over all the earth; you are exalted far above all gods. You who love the LORD, hate evil! He protects the lives of his godly people and rescues them from the power of the wicked. Light shines on the godly, and joy on those whose hearts are right. May all who are godly rejoice in the LORD and praise his holy name!  Psalm 97:1-12

Meditate. Consider Light.

Light illuminates the darkness. In the beginning there was only darkness…until God created light.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. Then God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. Then he separated the light from the darkness. Genesis 1:1-4

There was light shining in the darkness—dispelling the darkness.

The people who walk in darkness will see a great light. For those who live in a land of deep darkness, a light will shine. Isaiah 9:2

Do you see a great light? Is that light shining on you…or in and through you?
