It is fun to spend time outdoors—especially
this time of the year when it isn’t too hot…and not yet too cold. For the
Israelites it must have been sort of like camping out to build these booths—and
then celebrate this Feast of Booths with their family, friends and neighbors.
Can you imagine that the kiddos were asking…what are you doing? What is this
all about? And then the parents and grandparents would be able to tell them the
story of the Exodus and how God wants people to remember what He has done for
them—and to celebrate the good harvest.
What has happened in your life lately that
you can tell your family and friends about how God is working in your life?
Share—proclaim! Look for small and ginormous things that have happened recently—not
just ten years ago—but yesterday or today. For me…God has been helping me with
my attitude—opening my eyes to see when I’m having a poor attitude and showing
me how to deal with it! It is an ongoing process—but it is happening. How about
you? What is going on in your life? Share in the comments below and let’s see how
God is at work today.
Prayer
~ Holy Spirit, thank you for opening my eyes to my poor attitude and for
helping my change my thought pattern so that my attitude doesn’t spill out on
others and affect them in a negative way. Please continue to show me ways to
build others up—and to proclaim God’s love and goodness.
Friday’s Feast at the Lord’s Table
We can never eat too much fish! There
are countless ways to cook it—but not everyone enjoys fish. I prefer it cooked
to raw—although some of my family prefer it raw to cook! Sushi on! If fresh
enough and well prepared, it will literally melt in your mouth. Still I will
bake, poach, fry or grill it. My recipe for
today is from an old cookbook a friend gave me years ago. Serve the sauce below
with cooked fish.

Cucumber
Sauce for Fish.
1 cup of chopped cucumbers, 1 teaspoonful
of salt, 1 teaspoonful of chopped parsley, 1 teaspoonful of minced onion, 2
tablespoonfuls of Tarragon vinegar or lemon juice. Mix all together and drain
in a colander and just before serving stir in 2 scant cups of whipped cream.
Particularly good with salmon.
