Keep Your Faith

So you must remain faithful to what you have been taught from the beginning. If you do, you will remain in fellowship with the Son and with the Father. And in this fellowship we enjoy the eternal life He promised us. I am writing these things to warn you about those who want to lead you astray. But you have received the Holy Spirit, and He lives within you, so you don't need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what He teaches is true—it is not a lie. So just as He has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ. 1 John 2:24-27 NLT

Often Christians will talk about Jesus living in their heart…but this scripture tells me that it is The Holy Spirit who lives in my heart. Jesus told us that the Spirit would be our teacher and remind us of things that Jesus had taught. That is what teachers do—they teach us what others have discovered or taught. It may seem that there are not as many original ideas or discoveries now days…we just learn from others—and build on those preconceived ideas. Yet there are vast frontiers of discovery in areas of outer space, in microbial sciences, in understanding human interactions, and technology. Life is so complex…and the more we learn, the more we know that that there is more to learn. God is the ultimate Master of Knowledge…and to know Him is to know more—to be open to more knowledge. To deny Him, is to deny knowledge. Is refusing to learn and study a rejection of God? Are you teachable? Are you in fellowship with Christ…with the Holy Spirit?

Prayer ~ Holy Spirit, help me, as well as my family and friends, to keep the faith…to be teachable—to learn from You. You are teaching us everything we need to know—open our eyes, thoughts and minds to the details that will make our lives complete…and eternal.
