Are You Helping the Least of Them?

But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered before Him; and He will separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats; and He will put the sheep on His right, and the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on His right, 'Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.' Then the righteous will answer Him, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?' The King will answer and say to them, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.' Matthew 25:31-40

When was the last time you helped someone…gave them something to drink, or eat, or clothes to wear or merely visited them?

In our society today there is always someone in need—but often they are hidden—forgotten or ignored.
Jesus said… You will always have the poor among you, and you can help them whenever you want to. But you will not always have me. Mark 14:7 NLT
We will always have the lonely as well as the poor. People can be lonely—like in a prison of their own—in a crowded room…a bustling city…or even with family and friends. Loneliness is a choice—like happiness. We choose whether to be happy, sad, lonely, content, angry, or any number of other emotions. It is our choice. The best if for us to follow Paul’s advice to the Philippians… Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. Philippians 4:11 NLT. Learn to be content. Learn to share—to give to others—and learn to be content. Learn. It isn’t always an easy thing to do. In learning we sometimes have to give up something precious to us. Our selfishness…our arrogant attitude…our precious possessions that really aren’t of much value. What are you willing to give up so that others can live and prosper? Prosper physically and spiritually? Can you be an example of Jesus to others? Can you give to others—or visit them in their loneliness?

Prayer ~ Holy Spirit—open my eyes to see others as Jesus sees them so that I can serve them as if they were Jesus.
