Do You See, Hear and Understand?

And the disciples came and said to Him, "Why do You speak to them in parables?" Jesus answered them, "To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been granted. For whoever has, to him more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him. Therefore I speak to them in parables; because while seeing they do not see, and while hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand." Matthew 13:10-13

Is the Holy Spirit in this passage? The Holy Spirit gives us wisdom and understanding.
Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God, which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words. But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. 1 Corinthians 2:12-14.
Without the Holy Spirit we would be spiritually lost and ignorant. Do you want the Holy Spirit to give you wisdom and understanding? Most three-year olds have a favorite saying. “I can do it myself.” They think they can figure things out for themselves. Even strong-willed six-year olds want to decide for themselves and others around them just what to do and when. Parables are just simple stories to them…no hidden spiritual tidbits of wisdom and understanding. What do Jesus’ parables mean to you?

Prayer ~ Holy Spirit, fill us with wisdom and understanding from You that we would have insight into Jesus teachings and apply them to our lives.
