An important daily ritual of the first
seven days during the Feast of Tabernacles was for the priests to take water
from the Pool of Siloam to the Temple. So Jesus speaking on this last day of
this Feast and declaring Himself to provide living
water was very significant. Remember too that He told the woman at the
well that He was living water (John
4:7-30). Jesus also said He was light of
the world (John 8:12). Lighting the menorah was also a joyous time each evening
during this festival—as the people faced the light—and then the priests turned with their backs to the sun, facing the Temple reflecting the morning light--proclaiming the Lord as Light.
Jesus—the
Living Water—the Light of the World. He fulfilled promises in their Jewish
ritual. In this He promised the Holy Spirit. Are you listening to Him now? Are
you thirsty—can you drink of this living water?
If you were wondering, along with me, if
the Holy Spirit in the Feast of Tabernacles? Yes, He is there. Yet one more
promise and involvement.
Prayer
~ Holy Spirit, I rejoice in knowing that You are part of the Feast of
Tabernacles—and in the realization that Jesus is the fulfillment in this
festival as the Living Water and the Light of the World. Living Water—providing
for eternal life. Life everlasting. I eagerly wait for the day that begins…oh,
yes—it began the day I believed in Jesus as my Savior. Hallelujah!
Protect our family and friends in the Charleston, SC area who are experience one of the worst floods in recent history. This is more than "living" water springing forth from the gloomy skies. Have mercy. Ironic that sweet daughter Lisa was born during Typhoon Cora on Okinawa on this same day years ago!
Sweetest Happy Birthday, Lisa!
