Love Before Anything Existed

Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world. John 17:24

God loved His Son before creation—and the Holy Spirit was there too.  In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters. Genesis 1:1-2. The Son—Jesus—wants to have those who love Him be with Him—in Heaven one day. Picture Him pleading with the Father as He prays there in the Garden of Gethsemane shortly before His crucifixion. Pleading with the Father. Most of the time Jesus is telling His disciples and others that He is saying and doing just what His Father wants. Here He is asking His Father to grant His desire—to have those who follow Him be with Him. This shows love—His deep love for those who love Him. God loves His Son…and God loves the people of the world. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. John 3:16-17. How could God the Father not grant Jesus His desire to have His followers be with Him—and see His glory? Do you feel that you are loved by God…that you were loved by Him before anything existed?

Prayer ~ Holy Spirit, help each of us to know and feel God’s Love…Your Love. I thank you that everyone who believes in Him will NOT perish—they will survive eternally and see the glory of Jesus, sitting on a throne in Heaven—King of Kings, Lord of Lords. Thank you for revealing that to us.
