Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire

But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you all know. I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it, and because no lie is of the truth. Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son. Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father; the one who confesses the Son has the Father also. 1 John 2:20-23.

 

Liar—Liar, pants on fire. This old childhood chant makes perfect sense. Anyone who lies, denying Christ, will be headed for hell. Their pants would very likely catch on fire in that Lake of Fire that God has promised will be there for those who don’t believe in Jesus Christ. And anyone whose name was not found recorded in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:15 NLT. To have your name recorded in the Book of Life is the result of believing. Check it out for yourself. Search God’s Word…and apply it to your life.

 

The statement about denial is similar to a statement that Jesus made…But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven. Matthew 10:33. We must never deny knowing or believing in Jesus. He is our lifeline to eternity…our Savior, our Lord, our God. We are, as John wrote, anointed by the Holy Spirit when we believe in Jesus as the Son of God, as God, as our Savior—the Christ or Messiah. Do you believe…do you confess Jesus as Christ and The Son?

 

Prayer ~ Holy Spirit, hear my prayer and confession. I do believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God—as God. Lord of Lord, King of Kings. He is worthy of my praise. I claim the Heavenly Father and You, Holy One, as well as Jesus, to be my God.
