There is No Other God

Start with Prayer ~ Lord, show me what You want me to understand about You today. You are my God…there is no other. I know You speak the truth—I trust You. Right now, I humbly kneel before You. There is no God like You…You are the true God—awesome, holy, and powerful.

Let all the world look to me for salvation! For I am God; there is no other. I have sworn by my own name; I have spoken the truth, and I will never go back on my word: Every knee will bend to me, and every tongue will confess allegiance to me. Isaiah 45:22-23

Meditate. Consider God’s promise in this verse…and His promises all throughout the Bible.

Every knee will bend…every knee will bow, not just those who know God and believe in Him…but everyone will be kneeling before God. Paul preached this same scripture in his letters to the churches at Rome and Philippi.

For the Scriptures say, "'As surely as I live,' says the LORD, 'every knee will bend to me, and every tongue will confess and give praise to God. Romans 14:11

You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal's death on a cross. Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:5-11 (Underlined for emphasis.)

Have you ever kneeled before the Lord? Have you kneeled before anyone or anything else? God told Moses—for all mankind—“You must have no other gods but Me.” It is part of the First Commandment. God is a jealous god. Don’t get on the wrong side of Him, putting something else above Him. Do you regularly humble yourself in praise and adoration in your relationship with Him? Chatting with Him—letting Him hear you from your heart is important, too—just like any friend, but worshipping Him is essential, too. We are told not to forsake the assembling of ourselves together.

Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. Hebrews 10:23-25 NLT

One meaningful thing—I’ve found as I’ve missed doing it during COVID isolation—is to worship God in a group. Jesus told His disciples that where two or more were gathered together—He was there with them (Matthew 18:20). That is true in a corporate in-person worship time, too. Singing songs of worship and praying is just better in a group—the Holy Spirit is more evident. God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—is worthy of our praise, honor, allegiance, worship, adoration….and so much more. Glory be to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. There is no other God.

Verse of Salvation ~ For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people. Titus 2:11

Memory Verse of the Week ~ “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11
