Begin with Prayer ~ Lord, I am in awe of You and Your great love…and the wonderful things You have done. Even in the storms of life, please continue to save, guide, and protect me, my family, friends, and neighbors from turbulent times helping us to make good decisions that draw us closer to You.
Let them praise the LORD for his great love and
for the wonderful things he has done for them. Let them offer sacrifices of
thanksgiving and sing joyfully about his glorious acts. Some went off to sea in
ships, plying the trade routes of the world. They, too, observed the LORD's
power in action, his impressive works on the deepest seas. He spoke, and the
winds rose, stirring up the waves. Their ships were tossed to the heavens and
plunged again to the depths; the sailors cringed in terror. They reeled and
staggered like drunkards and were at their wits' end. "LORD, help!"
they cried in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He calmed
the storm to a whisper and stilled the waves. What a blessing was that
stillness as he brought them safely into harbor! Let them praise the LORD
for his great love and for the wonderful things he has done for them. Psalm
107:21-31 (Underlined for emphasis.)
Meditate. Consider the wonderful things the Lord has
done…for others…and for you.
Jesus calmed the Sea of Galilee Israel |
When Jesus woke up,
he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, "Silence! Be still!"
Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm. Mark 4:39
Have you ever encountered a terrible storm—physically or spiritually—and called out to the Lord, “help,” because you were at your wit's end, feeling trapped, or filled with fear? In this time of COVID, or even when it is questionable about the safety of going to the grocery store, fear can become overwhelming.
Do you have a list of scriptures that you find
comforting? While you are not overwhelmed by fear or stress, make a list of
your favorite calming, reassuring, and uplifting verses. Maybe start with the
classic ones and add your favorites:
Psalm
23
Psalm 1
Jeremiah
29:11-13
Psalm
118:6
1 John
4:18
Matthew
6
John
14:1-3, 27
1 Peter
5:7
Philippians
4:6-8, 19
When you are struggling, pray those scriptures to the Lord—out
loud whenever possible. There is power in the word of the Lord. Then give
thanks to the Lord. Use these and other verses to encourage others. They need
the Lord as much as you do.
And now, just as you
accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. Let your
roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith
will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.
Colossians 2:6-7
And give thanks for
everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 5:20
When you are in troubled waters, reach out to the Lord for
help. He hears our prayers and He has promised to always be with us. You can
count on Him.
Verse of Salvation ~ Cry out, "Save us, O God of
