Will You Shout for Joy or Mourn?

Start with Prayer ~ Lord Jesus—I am watching the sky and waiting for Your return. My heart is filled with joy just in the anticipation and thought of spending an eternity serving You…on earth and in heaven.

Look! He comes with the clouds of heaven. And everyone will see him—even those who pierced him. And all the nations of the world will mourn for him. Yes! Amen! Revelation 1:7

Meditate. Look at the clouds today. Will you express joy if you see Christ coming in the clouds?

Other verses in the Bible about coming on or with “the clouds of heaven” include these below (underlined for emphasis.)

-        As my vision continued that night, I saw someone like a son of man coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient One and was led into his presence. Daniel 7:13

-        And then at last, the sign that the Son of Man is coming will appear in the heavens, and there will be deep mourning among all the peoples of the earth. And they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. Matthew 24:30

-        Jesus replied, "You have said it. And in the future you will see the Son of Man seated in the place of power at God's right hand and coming on the clouds of heaven." Matthew 26:64

-        Jesus said, "I AM. And you will see the Son of Man seated in the place of power at God's right hand and coming on the clouds of heaven." Mark 14:62

How exciting is that?! Everyone will see Him—Jesus Christ—coming on the clouds of heaven. Any day that we have clouds in the sky—not the gray, overcast, gloomy clouds of winter—but puffy, majestic cumulous clouds, I think this could be the day. But yet prophetically, I read that more has to happen before the Lord returns and with the sound of a trumpet—or shofar horn. But things can change very quickly. Be alert--be ready.

John writes for Jesus about sadness…mourning… all the nations of the world will mourn for him. Is that because they didn’t believe? That word “mourn” in the Thayer Greek Lexicon is the Strong’s number G2875 that indicated beating one’s breast in grief, wailing, and lamenting. Yes. There will be great sadness. I can image both joyful shouting of those who belong to the Lord…and the wailing of those who have rejected or ignored Him, thus now being cut off from Him and an eternal life with Him. It will not be a quiet time. Which group will you be in? Those shouting for joy, or those mourning?

Verse of Salvation ~ I am the LORD; there is no other God. I have equipped you for battle, though you don't even know me, so all the world from east to west will know there is no other God. I am the LORD, and there is no other. I create the light and make the darkness. I send good times and bad times. I, the LORD, am the one who does these things. "Open up, O heavens, and pour out your righteousness. Let the earth open wide so salvation and righteousness can sprout up together. I, the LORD, created them.” Isaiah 45:5-8
