What is This World Coming To? Lord, help!

Prayer ~ Lord, calm our nation…our community…our hearts, and homes.

Let them praise the LORD for his great love and for the wonderful things he has done for them. For he broke down their prison gates of bronze; he cut apart their bars of iron. Some were fools; they rebelled and suffered for their sins. They couldn't stand the thought of food, and they were knocking on death's door. "LORD, help!" they cried in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He sent out his word and healed them, snatching them from the door of death. Let them praise the LORD for his great love and for the wonderful things he has done for them. Psalm 107:15-21 (Underlined for emphasis.)

The Lord has saved you...
from fear, terror, and chaos.

Meditate. Consider the safety the Lord has provided for you.

There was a shooting at a local grocery store this week. My husband and I had planned to go by there that morning…but got caught up doing some little project…and thought we’d go after lunch to do our errands. But there was the shooting…and we stayed home. God was watching out for us. Those who were there—the customers—were all traumatized. Imagine hearing those gunshots…and people running. Some were hurt as they tried to get out of the store. They likely cried out in their trouble—their distress, “Lord, help!”…He saved them from their distress…snatching them from the door of death. Only one man was killed, another wounded. But other customers were safe…just shaken…and they will be distressed for weeks, months, maybe years to come. Stress has a way of getting into a person’s psychic—their very soul. It’s not as if we don’t have enough stress, panic, chaos, fear, and turmoil in our lives, some crazy guy with a gun has to create more distress. Again, we cry…“Lord, help!” What is this world coming to?

Verse of Salvation ~ The LORD lives! Praise to my Rock! May the God of my salvation be exalted! Psalm 18:46
