When is the Time That is Least Expected?

Prayer ~ Lord, I’m ready…I think. Please show me if there is something I need to confess or do to “be ready” for Your return. Sometimes I get discouraged just waiting…and I know there are people out there who still need to know You as their Savior. Provide opportunities today…and in the coming days for me to tell them about You—before it is too late. When is the time that is least expected?

And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see. 1 Peter 1:5

Meditate. Faith in God. That is strong protection.

We don’t know what God looks like, but David depicted Him with wings. I love that thought that He will gather us under His wings.

Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy! I look to you for protection. I will hide beneath the shadow of your wings until the danger passes by. Psalm 57:1

Boaz used a similar description of God when he was speaking to Ruth as she gleaned in his fields.

May the LORD, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge, reward you fully for what you have done. Ruth 2:12

Can you feel God’s wings of protection covering you? What a strong protection He provides as you have faith in Him. Consider the verses in Ephesians that tell us about putting on the armor of God for protection against satanic and evil forces. It is by His power that we are protected.

A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God's armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of God's armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God's righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere. Ephesians 6:10-18

Paul is encouraging us to put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Is that time now? I think that we can say that it has an “evil time” since the fall of mankind there in the Garden of Eden. Evil forces are just part of life—the spiritual dimension. God’s power is greater than any unseen force and we can trust Him to protect us. He has a plan…and it is playing out right before our very eyes.

Just as prophesied, now there are rumors of wars. Jesus told His disciples…and us…

You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected. Matthew 24:44

Are you ready? When is the time that is least expected?

Verse of Salvation ~ And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see. 1 Peter 1:5

Memory Verse of the Week ~ Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5-6

Friday’s Feast at the King’s Table

We can’t live on bread alone. Our bodies need fresh, raw fruits and vegetables. Cooking foods destroys some of the nutrients. A short cooking time, preferably steaming, for things like spinach and broccoli makes them more digestible, but even short cooking times can reduce the vitamins and minerals available, according to healthline.com. Google eating fresh raw foods and see what you think.

We live to eat…and eat to live. That has been a family motto for years. Look at those around you…they are the same. Everyone eats to live…and frequently eats too much. American has become on obese nation—and we are suffering more COVID deaths because of poor health. Overfed and undernourished. Remember that gluttony is a sin.

My child, listen and be wise: Keep your heart on the right course. Do not carouse with drunkards or feast with gluttons, for they are on their way to poverty, and too much sleep clothes them in rags. Proverbs 23:19-21

Soaking alfalfa sprouts.
Beginning of a fresh new diet.
God puts energy in those little seeds.
That energy can be in your body!
Another translation says not to be with gluttonous eaters of meat. What’s on your plate today? Is there any sugar, white flour, or processed food there? Make it a point to eat some raw fruits and vegetables today. Authors Elizabeth and Dr. Elton Baker wrote a book, The Uncook Book, back in 1980 and commented that the value of eating a raw diet is that it provides clearer thinking, a foundation for greater spiritual awareness, and more physical energy. No big meal sluggishness that we’ve all experienced after a heavy meal. No napping necessary. Energy to get up and go is available after a meal of raw fruits and vegetables. Consider adding some sprouts to your diet soon. It takes a few days to grow them—so pick up some seeds today and get started on the path to better health. An easy one to start is alfalfa seeds by soaking a couple of tablespoons overnight in one of those empty canning jars I’m sure you have at the back of some cupboard. Drain the seeds—saving the water to drink since it is full of vitamins. Rinse a couple of times a day and lay the jar on its side. When there are two leaves on the sprouts, eat them. Raw, juiced or combine with other foods into soup, salad, or sandwiches. Enjoy!
