The
LORD your God will delight in you if you obey his voice and keep the
commands and decrees written in this Book of Instruction, and if you turn to
the LORD your God with all your heart and soul. Deuteronomy 30:10
For
the LORD your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight
in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will
rejoice over you with joyful songs." Zephaniah 3:17
Entrancement.
What sort of an emotion is that? The study by Cowen and Kelter included “entrancement”
as one of the 27 human emotions—so I looked up the synonyms for it, which are:
charm, enthrall, mesmerize, captivate, fascinate and delight. Did Jesus feel
this human emotion? The two verses above indicate promises the God will take delight in those who turn to
Him as their savior and keep His commandments. Delight. God’s delight is for us to seek Him…and that gives us
delight.

Psalm One is one of my favorite scripture passages—probably because I
memorized (KJV) it in elementary school. It focuses on a person’s delight being
in God’s law—His commandments. Meditate on that…on God’s commandments and
directives.
Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice
of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. But they delight
in the law of the LORD, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees
planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never
wither, and they prosper in all they do. But not the wicked! They are like
worthless chaff, scattered by the wind. They will be condemned at the time of
judgment. Sinners will have no place among the godly. For the LORD watches over
the path of the godly, but the path of the wicked leads to destruction. Psalm 1:1-6
I delight to do Your will, O my God; Your Law is
within my heart." Psalm 40:8

One of the
most precious, encouraging and comforting verses I have found to share with
others talks about God’s promise to give people the desires of their heart.
Delight yourself in the LORD; And He will give you
the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4 NASB
What is the
desire of your heart? Do you think that would have been a desire in Jesus’
heart?

You delight.
