Relatonship

You must worship no other gods, for the LORD, whose very name is Jealous, is a God who is jealous about his relationship with you. Exodus 34:14

Relationship. I've been thinking about that word often lately. What does that word convey to you? A connection between two or more people or entities--like between God and man. A connection between people is important...like in friendships, marriage and other family bonds--but I think that a connection with God is ultimately the highest form of a relationship that a person can have. God declared in the Ten Commandments--and again here in Exodus 34 that He is a jealous God. Don't worship or follow other gods. Only have a relationship with the Lord our God--Creator, Redeamor, Savior. Relationship is in the Old Testament and in the New Testament.

     - "Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God." Then, turning to his disciples, Jesus said, "That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life--whether you have enough food to eat or enough clothes to wear. Look at the ravens. They don't plant or harvest or store food in barns, for God feeds them. And you are far more valuable to him than any birds! For life is more than food, and your body more than clothing. Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? And if worry can't accomplish a little thing like that, what's the use of worrying over bigger things? Luke 12:21-26
     - Clearly, God's promise to give the whole earth to Abraham and his descendants was based not on his obedience to God's law, but on a right relationship with God that comes by faith. Romans 4:13

How do you make a strong relationship? First of all you have to get to know that person--deeply...intimately. How do we get to know God? Spend time with Him reading the book that He has created for us...the Bible. Get to know God's word--get to know God. Remember that He is a jealous God. Put Him first in your life.  Have faith in God. Like Jesus said...don't worry about other stuff in life--just focus on that relationship--that connection that you are developing with God. Prayer--conversation with Him--will make your relationship bonds even stronger. Reach to the heavens...focus on God. Trust His promises.

Prayer ~ Lord, may our relationship grow stronger day by day. Open my eyes to understanding You as I read Your Word and apply it to my life.
