Be Gentle

From The Sermon on the Mount...
Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth. Matthew 5:5 (NASB)

The gentle people get rewarded with the earth--the new earth of Reveltion 21:1. Some translations use the word "meek" or ''humble" instead of "gentle." That is referring to those people who are "humble before God."  Jesus is teaching His followers using the Old Testament passage we find in Psalm 37:11. Here is a classic example of Jesus bringing Old Testament teaching to life with His disciples and the crowd following Him. He doesn't get into the prosperity issue written in the Psalms passage--but instead focuses on "the land" which may be spiritual inheritance of the heavenly home...a new earth.
    - But the humble will inherit the land and will delight themselves in abundant prosperity. Psalm 37:11 (NASB)
I find that those who are gentle, humble, and unassuming are such a pleasure to be around--easy to get along with--not arrogant. They are generally compassionate, helpful and true servants of the Lord. Humble. They are the ones who are going to be sure to see the new Earth...what a glorious sight that will be. They will blessed. Will you be among those? Does the Lord see you as a "humble" person?
It takes a humble person to walk in these shoes--a gentle man.

Prayer ~ Lord God, the humble and gentle will be given a new earth--a new land. Land, space, a tangle new earth will be exciting to see--to experience. This earth on which we now live is beautiful and amazing--but the new earth will certainly be more sensational. May I humbly look forward to spending eternity there with You...and millions of other believers? Please, may it be so!
